99 Honda Civic Alternator question!
Hey Im sure this is quite a dumb question but I am a newer Honda Owner so here is the just of it I own a 1999 Honda Civic Si with a 1.6L D16Y8 DOHC Non VTec Motor and the Alternator is dying, Will an Alternator from a VTec D16Y8 fit onto a Non Vtec D16Y8?
As mentioned probably a dumb question so try and go easy on me lol |
Re: 99 Honda Civic Alternator question!
Only thing dumb about your question is your description of an engine that does not exist.
D16Y8 = 1.6L sohc vtec So if it has a D16Y8, it is neither non-vtec or dohc. Is the car stock? Is it an EX, or a CX/DX/LX, an HX, or an Si? Please confirm the engine and trim and I'm sure someone can answer your question. (Hint: as long as it's a single cam engine, the answer is yes) |
Re: 99 Honda Civic Alternator question!
My bad sorry I was basing it off a previous work order done on it that stated it was a DOHC, Engine is a 1.6L D16Y8 Engine The Trim is an Si, Sorry if this doesnt really help :s
My Civic is stock except for an AEM Cold Air Intake System ( Already Installed when I bought car ) |
Re: 99 Honda Civic Alternator question!
So I guess you probably should state what country you are in also. The US Si had the B16A2. The D16Y8 is only in the Canadian Si.
But I believe the answer is yes. |
Re: 99 Honda Civic Alternator question!
