HAHAHA how is your vouch thread going to help this guy? lol thats classic.

Sorry just had to say that swapping the motor would be no problem. Doing a front end conversion is another thing (i think thats what you mean by front cut)

Re: (Luserkid)

One tip until you do get that swap in. Put your heat shield back on your exhaust manifold. http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif And yes Luserkid is right on the nose. The front clip will be a problem, the swap wont.

Re: 99 Hatch engine swap (DrunkenMaster16)

it's not that hard, you just need the 99-00 si dirver side and pass side eng. mounts and also the rear bracket to a 99-00 si, and then it will drop right in. but I would buy the whole front end, you can only really use the swap, I don't know about the front end. lol but it can be done, I have a 94 civic 4dr with a 97 integra front end, all I did was, cut the old radiator support off and welded a integ. one on and cut the intg, and the civ, fenders in half, and welded them together, and it fit like a glove. just needs a paint job now. but you can do the same for yours, I had a friend that did it to his 96 civic. good luck

DrunkenMaster16 09-19-2004 09:30 PM

Re: (DOHC4life)

the front cut will just have the engine, gearbox, clutch, front brakes, ecu engine axels maybe seats, dash, doors hood and so on. X2board wants the clip and the brakes, I want the engine, ecu, axel's, clutch, gearbox ( might trade it for his), and maybe dash with the ITR guage.

im probly gonna need some type of engine mount kit because its gonna be going from D15z4 to a B18c5 id also need struts and some other stuff I gotta talk to X2Board tomorrow about ordering it. thanks for any help guys. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: 99 Hatch engine swap (civtegra_hybrid)

my bad, did I say I would buy the whole front end, I take that back, you can only use the hood, fenders, bumper, head lights, if you would do the whole conversion, you can't use the front chassy.

.BigSexy 09-19-2004 11:00 PM

i heard it isnt good to boost a CTR or ITR, compression was already high enough?? just what I heard. and that does not look like a d15, looks like a d16y7, on the d15 non-vtec, the plugs are in the back of the valve-cover, not the front

DrunkenMaster16 09-20-2004 08:48 AM

Re: (egcoupe94)

its a D15z4 got it from local honda dealership and they only use jdm engines and so on.

brush up on your trivia buddy... it's a D15 non vtec civic (japanese market... not that it means much...lol) https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Drunkenmaster's just asking about the feasability of the engine/tranny swap... I am planning to take the rest of the clip for an ITR front end conversion....surprised no one pointed to the search button...lol

is c5 safe to boost cuz isnt the compression alrready high?

Soccerking3000 09-20-2004 09:23 AM

Re: (egcoupe)

thats y the gsr motor b18c1 is better for boost has lower compression

.BigSexy 09-20-2004 10:23 AM

well i was just going on the facts of my USDM d15b7...the plugs are in the back.....thought that the JDM d15 was the same

Re: (egcoupe94)

hey check out this site it is probley the best on the net for a b18c swap, it's for a gsr, but it's pritty much the same as the type r swap, almost exactley the same. http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...p.php

you're stupid if you want to boost a c5. that motor is wonderfully built for n/a.. you'd be wasting a SHIT load of money as well.

That's a pretty clueless thing to say meng.... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

Yes... it built for n/a.. ALL B,D and H series are genius... I guess it'd be a waste of money to boost any of them then ! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emhammer.gif

...go tell all the boosted ITR guys that they wasted money... they need a good laugh.

BTW... odds are, the jdm engine will be closer to 200hp, but that's on 103 octane... we have 95, so yeah... close to the usdm 195hp is what you'll see.

You can build a LS motor and boost that for less than what it would cost to buy a c5.
Hell, even a boosted ls/vtec would be cheaper.

look at the compression ratios for all those motors. which one has the highest? does that mean anything to you?

sure, you could dump a load of money into an itr motor and it would be quick, no doubt.. but why spend all that money?

my question to you is: why you would boost a c5 motor over a c1 (or even over an ls for that matter) motor?

Better intake manifold
Better head
Better cams
Higher redline
Better gearing
Factory LSD

Not everyone is looking for the absolute cheapest possible way to do things.
Calling people stupid for wanting to mod their car a certain way is ignorant.

.BigSexy 09-20-2004 02:42 PM

we are not saying go the cheap way, but you are just begging for a disaster if u boost an ITR, do what Im gonna do, turbo z6!! but the c5 is better for n/a, if u go b-series, go c1 turbo, not c5 turbo, by the way, where in the hell can you get 105 octane fuel?? the highest i have ever seen here in TN is 93

Re: (egcoupe94)

dont boost type rs if ur gonna drive it a lot...compression isnt on ur side

stick with the cheaper ls if u want more diplacement plus doch

even a gsr swap would do alright with boost if u gotta have that vtaK
