yeah the conversion can be done .but if you dont know how to do the work and need to have someone done it, i would say. sell th car and buy a manual .
parts u will need. a manual tranny with clutch.flywhee. slave cylinder...pedals. shift linkage and all the bushing.and shifter.and a auto to manual conversion mount.or u can reweld the bracket and use manual tranny mount. it can be done but time consuming

Re: 99 hatch 5 speed swap (crazyguy)
I can do the work and know what i need. Just want to know if it would be more economical in the long run to just buy a 5 speed rather than converting. and i dont think you need the conversion mount on the ek.

economical in the long run..?? u mean fuel efficiency? and it also depends on how much u get those parts for . if u can get them for cheap. it will be fun to drive a manual car
for the tranny mount. i didnt know ek can reuse the auto tranny mount

is it worth the time and effort to do it rather than just buying a 5 speed. Its nice enough i could sell it and buy a decent 5 speed so if its gonna be a huge hassle to do the converison i could sell it.

its not that much work, i did it on my ej8 and put a b16a3 in it while i was doing that.
just remember to splice the two HUGE THICK black wires together under the automatic shifter so you can start the car when youre done.
also, you need to have a grinder and grind the little peice of metal off (where the automatic shift linkage goes through under the car)
