99 EX took a turd, with a twist!
So my brother is driving his ex at about 35-40 mph when he runs over a pair of train tracks, bouncing a little wildly. He said his lights started flickering and his car slowly sputtered to a stop. All the lights still work, car cranks, fuel pump is priming, i dont see any disconnected grounds or wires. Any thoughts? im lost... Im looking for a compression tester and ill try to test it soon. Any info will be appreciated.

the car does not start, it just cranks.

Re: (mitsuman)
I would forget that "it was just a set of train tracks". Whatever went bad was going to go bad it just this time instead of walking out to the car and it not starting it quit on him while he was driving. It better if you look at it that way so you start diagnosing the problem like you would any other time.
So, it sounds like you have fuel, and it cranks so its not the primary fuse. We know you have air . So your missing spark. In my experiences it hardly ever the coil. Its normally one of the two senors in the distributor (at least in my experiences) Make sure you test everything before you just buy parts.

Re: (RYNO48)
something must've loosened up when your bro was bouncing or maybe the starter got messed up when he was flying
check if the starter is good or bad
could possibly be that those railroad tracks are huanted

Just because the fuel pump primes doesn't mean there is fuel passing through it. So your assumption could be incorrect.

You don't read very well, the car is CRANKING but not STARTING. Cranking = starter doing its job.
I say, check for spark(easy), if you have spark, then your most likely out of fuel. Put some fuel in there and see if it starts. FPR, would tell you. To bad he doesn't have one hooked up.
