Default 99' EM1 - Rear Sway Bar Question

Hey guys,

Before I get roasted, I just want to mention I did run a search on the forum and google to no avail. I know the sway bar issue has been tackled many times but I didn't find specifics on how high the spring rates should be.

I just wanted to ask what kind or rear spring rates I should be running to safely run a CTR sway bar with a subframe reinforcement.

I have a 99' EM1 with Eibach Sportlines and Eibach Shocks too. Would that be safe enough?

Anybody running the same springs with a similar sized sway bar?

If so for how long? And how are the driving conditions you experience mostly for daily driving?

I saw on the reference thread for spring rates that the Sportlines run 275lbs/in in the rear and a CTR stock is at 240.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm actually new to the forums just got the car three months ago.

What do you mean "safe"?

Get an ASR and put the CTR bar on it.

I just heard that even with a brace like ASR's the rear subframe could still as easily tear out if your spring rates are low enough or if the shocks have too long of a stroke.

I know the brace is the end is the all be all solution other than welding a CTR subframe in place.

But I just want to get a good idea of what my factor of safety is from preventing tear out given my current suspension set up.

I forgot to mention that I'm also going to be using a brace either ASR or F7

Don't make it any more complicated than this.

You're not going to destroy your subframe with an ASR brace unless your subframe is rusted/rusting through.

It's not going to happen.

The higher the spring rates the less the sway bar will actually do.
You are overthinking a very simple job. Get the brace, bolt it on and drive the car.
