Default 99 ek with obd2 motor and 0bd1 ecu

Got ECU wired up w/ new wiring harness and car starts and runs.
Idle surges, but could be a number of issues causing that......
No O2 sensor hooked up, vacuum leaks, etc.

I want to add a digital temp guage, and the kit came with a new water temp sensor, with 2 wires (ground and +guage). Original sensor has only one wire hook up.

Will the car run fine without the temp sensor hooked up to the harness?
Then I can hook up the new guage by itself to the sensor.

Or should I splice the harness to the new sensor w/ the temp gage wiring?
Just wondering if one of the idle issues is from the temp guage not being hooked up.

The car is turbo'd and could not be tuned properly (do not trust anything previous owner said now)

Ok, what I do I my turbo ls/vtec:

Remove and cut the nipple ( Yellow square), let a tiny portion to weld a coupling. Then screw it back and the sensor in the new coupling.

You can try and find a female adapter that screw there, but this thread is a b****.

something like this, but I made mine with the stock thread.
