99 DX Hatch - A/C install, cluster swap, and hatch hydraulics questions
I am looking at buying a 1999 Civic hx hatch. From my understanding A/C was an option with this model. This particular one does not have factory A/C installed, so my question is how much would it cost (estimate) to have get the parts for the A/C. I have access to a 1996 Civic ex, would i be able to pull the A/C system from this and make it work in the hatch? Also could i pull the gauge cluster from the 96 ex and swap it into the hatch? The car is going to be my daily driver. Also the hydraulics on the rear hatch wont hold the hatch up, can i order these parts from honda or is there an aftermarket solution? Thank you for your time!

I'd pay around $2500... give or take the state of the chassis. No more than $3000.

You can usually just open the hatch and push on the center of the hatch rod to bend it slightly. That will force it to stay open and it's FREE. You can then close the hatch normally. Try it first before you spend any money. I did this on a 90 Crx Si and it worked like a charm.

Didn't think an entire thread was needed for this question but:
Will a 99-00 Si cluster plug and play into a 99 Civic (Auto)? If not, what's necessary for it to work properly? Looking forward to the built in tach for one, and will it provide a Gas light as well? (Just going into a DD)

the gas lift thigs for the hatch are way too expensive for the OEM units. You can get replacements at any auto parts place. They should be under $30 a side.
