Default 99 d16y7 in a 97 civic ex, wont start HELP

First off, i got this motor because it had a good price and 25k on it. my d16y8 sppun a bearing. I am using my D16Y8 vtec ecu ( only to get running so i can go pick up a y7 ecu) D16y8 complete harness, tb, and intake mani, as well as the stock auto transmission. THe only thing that is new is the bare longblock. I am using my y8 dizzy because they are the same. I am getting spark but it wont start. I am using the y7 injectors out of the 99 d16y7. Also throwing code for vtec malfucntion and IAT. My question is why is it not starting. Is it because harness and ecu are obd2a and injectors are obd2b, or because i am using the VTEC ecu? Any help would be greatly appreciated, stressing out because this is my only car. Oh the car is a 100% stock auto 97 civic ex.

Three things

Compression, spark, and fuel.

Check your fuel pressure.

You should've just swapped out the blocks. Then you wouldn't have any problems!

Put the y8 injectors in.

Y7 injectors are 190cc and y8 are 240cc. There is your problem; not enough fuel.

Your car is throwing the code probably becuase you have no VTEC solenoid. Is your IAT plugged in?
