B16B from the CTR is a rip off. While it has a rated 185whp, it still has no torque at all.

I would imagine that a B18C1 from an Integra GS-R would still be faster and cost MUCH less than a B16B swap.

Now about the JDM ITR swap?

I've got a USDM ITR swap and I love it. It would absolutely romp all over that B16B swap, and if the price is similiar then that's a no-brainer.

Sorry to those of you sporting the B16B swap, but the only real draw of a B16B swap is the rarity. If you seek to build a to the T copy of a CTR, the by all means buy the B16B swap - just don't expect to beat the same car with a GS-R or ITR swap.

Hey EGlovr, I'm sure you were talking to hondaatwatsu and not me, right?

I thought I was pretty fair in my reply.

EGlovr, you got IM!

b16b is gay.. you are paying 4500-5000 for a b16. its worth maybe 3,000.. then the additional 2000 is for the jDm CtR bragging rights you get with it.

b18c5 or jdm b18C goes for 4500-5000 as well. yet it has more power, and possibly the 4.785 FD.

hmm.. less power for the same price.. or more power for the same price.

how about making it a 1.8 l just the difference with the crank?
depends on the cost but like b18c5-eh2 said b18c1 or c5 depending on the cost .

ls vtec is very unreliable...if this car is going to be daily driven, id just buy a stock honda motor (either the b18c or a boosted b18b)

An LS/VTEC or CR/VTEC in MOST cases (barring those stellar steals you might find on various parts) will cost MORE than a good B18C1 swap.

Unless you know how to build a motor well, you will end up spending some change on having an LS/VTEC built RIGHT. Putting a motor together isn';t like a Snap-Tite model, and hell even professionals can screw up on an engine build LS/VTEC or not.

For the minimal gains you get with a basic LS/VTEC, I'd rather spend my money on a Honda-Built B18C1 and know it will be reliable for a long time to go.

A B18C5 will defiantely cost more, but I believe I've already covered the advantages of having that swap.

thank you B18C5-EH2!!! No matter how good of a mechanic you might think you are NOTHING is ever going to be as reliable as OEM stuff!!!

Well, I didn't say that there are no reliable LS or B20 VTECs, but they are not going to be cheaper to build than your run of the mill B18C1 swap.

you have a stock motor.. what are you talking about being a mechanic?
and no one ever mentioned the $$ factor in building a RELIABLE ls/vtec b20/vtec motor. you simply said "ls/vtec's are not reliable"

maybe if you said ls/vtec motors with no building would have been different.
c-speed racing has proven to build quality ls/vtec and b20/vtec set ups
