Default 99 civic swap

Ok I have a 99 civic si that I have had forever and wondered if it is worth it to put a motor swap in. I have about 2000 dollars and was going to do a B16 sir swap from that year. The transmission went out and the motor isn't doing the best. Just wondering if doing the swap would be worth it or should I just part the car out.

People do swaps all the time so lets spin this around, is it worth it to you to have a better motor in your car?

I wonder were the best place to get a swap from. I will pay a little bit more to get a motor I know is going to be in good condition and will run.

dont do a B16..unless its a B16B

all other B16's are garbage noise makers. Look at a B18b/c or B20B

Wait, I don't understand. Your location says Oak Ridge, TN. So the 99 Si you have is American, right? That already has a B16 motor in it. There is no difference between a B16 SiR and your motor. An SiR is just a Canadian version of the American Si. In Canada, our EX is their Si. So why don't you just rebuild your B16 and then get a new trans? If you are swapping, why not swap a stronger motor like a B18?

another torque less b16 which is overrated hype is not worth it. If your just wanting to swap something in and add power later id just get a cheap ls or b20 motor and put a vtec head on it. just dont rev it like its a b16 keep the rev limiter stock around 6500-6700. that would be the better option then buying another b16

Rebuild the head, slap in on a B20 block, problem solved. I found a B20 "swap" on eBay earlier for $900 with 30-day warranty. JHP has really great sales on their SuperTech VT combo, ou should stay in your budget.
