99 Civic Si swap
I would like to swap my B16A2 in my 1999 Civic Si with a B18C TYPE-R a friend picked up. I heard it's a simple swap...is this true? Will my Civic Si still be smog legal?

Re: 99 Civic Si swap (xtreme99)
i see your in CA..
BARing (legalizing your motor) takes more than just swapping it and making it run..its possible to BAR R motors like this guy did https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1307417
just takes alot of time and effort...to answer your question in simple terms..no your motor will not be legal once swapped if you didnt go through BAR..
although im not condoning it..many people i know get their papers done illegally..this is for a hefty price though..and still doesnt guarantee your safety with the authorities...
as far as the install..yeah its pretty basic..you dont need new mounts or anything...although i'd suggest getting a type R ecu and tune it to run properly..and if you wanna go all out..get your b16 tranny LSD..as thats all a type r tranny really is..

Re: 99 Civic Si swap (Siberian Husky)
Well, I have 101,000 miles on my Civic Si - mostly freeway miles. You think it would be easier to put a stock Greddy Turbo kit on it? .....I'm thinking it would be just as quick as a B18C R Engine Swap...

From what I gathered...
It's as simple as unplugging all plugs, taking out engine, put in new engine, plug everything back up.
This is assuming you get a ob2b B18C5.
Good luck.
