Default 99 Civic Si - Lost 80 horsepower from CLOGGED AIR FILTER

I had posted a while back that I had a B16a in my 99 si..Apparently the reason why I was losing 80 horsepower was because the fact that I had a COMPLETELY CLOGGED AIR FILTER ON MY COLD AIR INTAKE. This may help some of you out.

The reason I didn't check was because it looked completely fine from the outside. Totally threw me off. Guy must have cleaned it right before I bought it but it was clogged. If you think i was too lazy to check, you're wrong because I did everything to try to diagnose the problem.

I highly doubt that. You still have a 22+ year old engine.

Doubt all you want, I got my car re-tuned after I significantly felt the difference after changing the air filter and installing a few other parts that changed the air flow and the numbers definitely proved me right.

On a B16A?? Either your engine is built from the ground up or that dyno reads wayyy tooo high.

Every bolt on possible and adjustable GE cams, the camshafts are already good so no need to change those. Interal work, I'm unaware if anything has been changed but the car runs pretty damn good now.

damn those numbers do seem pretty high for a b16 with bolt-ons.
prob. a stroked out b16 with those torque numbers.
but congrats on fixing your prob and nice numbers.

Thanks man, I'm not sure of this but when it idles it sounds like a 350 or 454 big block lol..But I have no idea, guy i bought it off had no idea cause he bought it off someone else a week before. He probably sold it to much because it was running so shitty. But turns out to be a good investment

my friends "stock" b16a2, just bolt ons, tune made 142hp... That engine is NOT stock, or the dyno is lieing to you.

Define bolt ons. I said all bolt ons

skunk 2 70mm tb
skunk 2 intake man.
2 1/2" cutout
AEM cold air intake
DC headers
GE ad. cams
plus b16a > b16a2

I remember seeing a post a while back with a guy pushing 190whp on a B16 with bolt ons with Dyno sheets.

Sk2 IM, AEM intake, DC header, Greddy exhuast, chrome.

We're talking about a 50HP diference here, that is HUGE when it comes down to a N/A B16.
wether it's a B16a, or a2, that still wont explain a 50hp diference.

Didnt the stock B16A2 have 158hp? I know you loose power over time but with a couple of mods and a tune, I dont think it should be that much of a loss.

That torque number is far too high for a 1.6l, regardless of HP

There is no way a bolt on B16 made even close to those numbers. Your on heavy drugs if you believe so.

The kind that shows incorrect torque numbers, its basically mechanicaly impossible to get torque like that from 1.6L

Those numbers are that of a healthy R part 1.8
