99 Civic SI
Hey I'm looking to buy a 99 Civic SI from a private person, this is the layout of the car: Please let me know if you think the price is reasonable: he's asking $13,500
99 EBP Civic SI w/ 45k on car 5k on rods and pistons
Drag Gen 3 Turbo kit
RC 440 injectors
Fuel Rail
Bosch Intank Fuel Pump
Eagle Rods
JE 9-1 Pistons
Stage 4 clutchmaster clutch
Ground Control Coilovers
Stock Shocks
Exterior
Wings West Type W kit
18" Racing Hart ST-6 Rims with Yokohama Parada
Greddy Evo Exhaust
Clean, no dings no scratches
He's throwing in a free carbon fiber hood and sparco hood pins (sure, nothing is free)
Tell me what you guys think...i know the car is in sound condition cause a local shop did all the work and they are my boys too. They gave me the thumbs up as far as the mechanics of the car. Tell me what you guys think about the price.
Thanks again,
take it easy.

Re: 99 Civic SI (nousername)
Why is he asking so little, basically, it's like you are paying for a stock Si and he through in A LOT of parts to sweeting the deal.

Re: 99 Civic SI (chad)
what would a car like this sell for? he has shown me all the receipts and credit card invoices, and the schedule maintenance records, and the warranty for the electronics (it's all actually in a binder that he had in the car)...it all checks out legit, like i said earlier, he bought his parts and did the tuning from the same shop i bought stuff for my 240sx...i've seen him around before..everything seems legit

Re: 99 Civic SI (nousername)
try talking him down to $12k civic si really don't cost that much people on this board seem to think 13.5k is a good price but i've seen si's in better condition go for less, just got to look and wait around. but dont haggle unless you are sure you want the car first, like mentioned earlier there's always risk buying a modded car because you dont know how hard the person pushed it.

Re: 99 Civic SI (tFUnK)
13k is alot of money....if your serious about buying...i would get the motor checked out...
the seller should be coo with it if everythings fine..he has nothing to hide...
just do a compression test....and or leak down...
i would also suggest you have some saved money for a new ecu/stand alone
and btw..drag manifold and downpipes are pretty strong...but once they crack...
your in a world of heartache....even if you re-weld and/or reinforce....it will happen again...
as far as the price...sounds pretty good...just make sure you know whta your getting before any money
changes hands....good luck

Re: 99 Civic SI (CTRKID)
Sounds too good to be true....Personally,if i were to sell my old car(8-9 psi JRSC setup, full round of bolt ons, suspension work) i would have asked at LEAST 15+K...And that included 13 sec slips and all the paperwork....Sometimes things can be too good to be true...I just ould NOT trust buying a car that had all the work already done to it,but hey, thats just me.........You just dont get the feeling of accomplishment when its all said and done.....

Re: 99 Civic SI (nousername)
What kind of fuel manegment does it come with ? Does it have a stand alone or is it a cheap VAFC hack like I have ? How was the compression test?

Re: 99 Civic SI (nousername)
The compression #'s and VIN integrity should be the largest factors. The engine management sounds pretty questionable. If the motor is still in good mechanically sound condition, it may be worth it to buy a stand alone ECU and do some do the dyno tuning out of your own pocket. You'll also need some adjustable cam gears and an ignition w/ a hotter spark, as well as new shocks.
Once it's all said and done, that car should be good for 12’s once you put it on a diet and get it to grip of the line.
