Re: 99 civic rev govner?????? (beckersurfer)
i dont think it has a rev limiter? I was (accidentally) going nearly 8000rpm on my d16y8 and I'm pretty sure I launched it at about 5000 once...also on accident (first night at strip was watching light)
not sure though, maybe in neutral yeah...

ok i am assuming u have an auto? well my 98 accord was an auto and when in neutral, it only revved to 5000 when stopped, but if i was moving over like 10 mph or was in drive, then it would hit 6250. But you dont need to remove the limiter because the only time you need to rev that high is when your in gear.

yes unfortunately its an auto, i was just wondering why the engine cut out at 5000 rpm when it was in N however ive redlined it pretty good while driving 8000rpm .
and when i turn the car on the CEL light comes on and then turns off, so whats this mean?

Everything is normal. It has a lower revlimiter in neutral to save the transmission from race-monkeys trying to neutral-drop it into gear. The check engine light going off is normal. Don't worry, and stop beating up your car.
