Default 99 civic radio/ a/c control area

Whenever I go over a bump the whole center console area jumps around is there a special way to secure it?

Heres what I mean, I can easily remove it as in theres nothing locking it in place like a tab or screw?

Most of us here are lowered. We either go over bumps extremely slowly or sideways.. Stop going over bumps so fast...

In all honesty, are you missing any screws? I can tell you that my center console does no such thing.

Its not the way I drive I believe it might be missing a part because I know I shouldnt be able to move the console up and down freely with my hands.

Do you mean the center console (like your post says) or the climate control section (like your title says)?

The center console should have screws down the sides of it. You can find them all easily. The front should be buckled under the shift boot section and the rear should have two little clips that hold it in place. These clips break on many center consoles, but I've never seen a center console jump because of broken clips.

youll need to put the factory radio brackets back in around the new radio and dash kit. this will allow you to put the 8mm bolts back in the botton to hold it in. or go to honda and replace the clips all the way around the edge on the back and let the clips hold it.

If you ask Honda, they can find the correct parts. They can even show you on the tear down diagram.

Or you could go to one of the sites in this thread and find it yourself. Many of tem have the real part numbers there.

There are 4 bolts that hold the center radio/temp console in place. The cigarette adapter center piece needs to be removed.

If the center console was previously removed, chances are, the bolts can become losen up. It also rests on clips, but that's to hold it in place.

Unless he has the optional ashtray and lighter (or hell, just the lighter maybe), that panel is actually just a 12 volt panel only.

Yes, I meant the same thing. The ashtray is one of a kind.

I'm selling mine for $250, since it's so rare.

My **** does the same thing on big bumps (2000 SI) and it is beginning to get annoying. Mine sits flushed but i can slide the tip of my finger into a slit above the hazard light button and pop it out easily and i recently replaced the entire bezel and it still does it.

Just get a small bracket and drill one hole in bezel and one in dash, that will hold it!

Yes it's rare, but not that rare. I just picked mine up new from Honda a week or two ago for $37. Last dark gray one in stock.

I'm just clarifying it. I've seen a number of people call the 12 volt plug a lighter by accident.

Yes, the cig lighter, to me, is useless. I quit smoking a while back, so it just powers up my samsung helix all day. Plus, this thing is also good because it shifts the lighter to the right, instead of blocking in the middle.

P.S. Edit...$250 price are for those who are in desperate need; otherwise, I'd let it go for $30, but I aint selling shiz.

So, you have an ashtray too? I love mine. I won't be using mine either though. I've never smoked. I just am infatuated with OEM accessories.

Yup!!! I got mine on eBay 3 years back, when they were almost in every sellers inventory!!! The ashtray holds, NOTHING. It's there, and there's a light bulb that lights up NOTHING.

Isn't is cool to have one of these and neglect it? OEM optional parts are sick.

Ironically, I purchased an RDX ashtray cup too! I have no use for it, but I want it to hold change.
