99 Civic LX Muffler replacement
I am going to replace the rear muffler on my Civic, in that mine has broken off. I have the muffler ordered and on the way. Looking at the setup, it seems there are only 2 spring bolts to remove and bolt the new one on.
My question: Is the gasket between the pipes generally re-usable, or do I need to get another one, and are the spring bolts re-usable, or will I have to cut them off and get new ones? (they are not rusted) Any other helpful hints appreciated (concerning procedure/hangers etc.) Thanks. |
Re: 99 Civic LX Muffler replacement
yes it is reusable, but since you have it apart and the gasket is less than $5 why not replace it? The bolts are reusable.

Re: 99 Civic LX Muffler replacement
Thanks, I actually have not pulled the flange apart, but I plan on it when my muffler gets here in the mail. I am used to working on old number series Volvos (a 92 740 and 93 240 my kids drive) but I am learning my way around Hondas. Thanks for the info! Hopefully it will go well.
