'99 Civic Heater A/C Panel Intermittent Operation
Hi folks, This site is a great source of knowledge and thank all who contribute. Anyway, finished fixing the A/C last Monday and worked great all week when it was hotter than blazes. A cold front came thru and Monday eve when starting out, none of the heater and A/C controls worked. Drove to gas station and turned off civic. Got back in and started car, mysteriously the heater and A/C controls worked.
Repeated the same intermitent problem the next 2 mornings on way to work. Paenl started working after getting to my job. 3rd day worked right after 1st start. 4th day car started and a few seconds later the heater blower came ON. This morning I started civic and panel did not work.
Used advise offered by Prelude owner with similar problem. Firm blow of clenched fist to dash. DAMN thing started to work. Repeated same sequence a few more time. CRAZY! So does Heater Control panel need replaced?
I dug into the dash other day and getting that center panel out is a real, ah, challenge to be nice. Manual says remove 4 screws at bottom. Push panel up to dis-engage clips and pull out. That did not happen at all. Bottom edge felt firmly attached but I could not find the right screws to remove.
Thanks for reading. All help appreciated.

Re: '99 Civic Heater A/C Panel Intermittent Operation
Ok, I'll recheck that. Thanks RonJ@HT. I did not remove it and inspect but will next chance. It may be a while before I can check since my daughter had to take the car to ballet boot camp.
I did download the Civic Service Manual from HT website and definitely more useful that the Haynes manual I have. I will study it more for any troubleshooting tips.
Thanks

sorry to drag this one out of the past but did you find a solution? Mine seems to be doing something similar.
Thanks!

Re: '99 Civic Heater A/C Panel Intermittent Operation
Hi Guy,
Well, my daughter has been driving car out of state so I do not have daily contact. She did tell me that over the last few months that A/C is intermittent, so . . . . . . . . . I think I need to buy heater control panel on eBay. They r cheapest I saw. I'll replace it when she's home.
She never hit the dash with fist to engage heater control panel. It did work for me a couple times but not reliable solution.
Good manuals avilable on the forum to wal u thru it. Good Luck.
