Default 99 Civic Hatch - Climate control Issues And heater doesnt blow Hot Air.

Here is the problem

The climate control works. But I cant switch the functions of the top **** (the air directions) And also the Heater wont turn on if put to the Heater(red side)

I went ahead and check the fuses inside the car and the 1 in the engine bay - No bad fuses.
any info would help - Is there a computer that controls the air? or relay or something that may be messed up?

Thankyou

There is two coolant lines going to the firewall. That is your heater inlet & outlet. One of those has a valve with a small rod to open and close that is connected to your climate control.

The way it works is when you put it to cold inside the car, the valve closes not letting hot coolant into the heater core. And visa versa, when it's set to hot, the valve opens and lets hot coolant into the heater core.

Sometimes the rod gets knocked off for whatever reason.

Have someone move it from hot & cold and see if it opens and closes..

If that doesn't work, might want to check on replacing the thermostat.

Is it blowing ANY air when it's on hot?

Okay, im gonna go check that. But yea it does blow air when put on the heater side. I did feel some air that was warm. but it never got hot.

I recently change the thermostat because i thought it might have been the problem of the car overheating (but it wasnt, it was the radiator fan)

Thanks for the help

also what would be the problem of the top **** not working? the switch to make it blow differnt ways? its just blowing straight out of the front vents.

I check that valve. it was connected and when i turn the **** to go from cold to hot. It moved. So what else can be the problem? can it be my Heater Blower?
what about the top **** for the air directions.

It's either the coolant is not going thru the heater core, the blower is not blowing, or the climate control is bad.

I know you've checked over it, but check the entire system to make sure you didn't miss anything. That's all the components pretty much to get hot air.

Thx poison. I will go ahead and look more in to depth in those area.
the climate control is good because i tried another 1 and same problem.

i think it might be the blower because the car has been flooded.
is there a relay or something down there that may be bad due to the flood?
