'99 Civic EX P1399 - Possibilities? Help!
Wife called from 45 miles away from home, said it felt like she hit a brick wall, that there was an instant loss in power. I drive there, crank it and it sounds like it is running on 3 cylinders. I check the code and get a P1399 - Random Misfire, no other codes, just the P1399.
I thought maybe it was the cat, but it will rev all the way up and down, but rough. It will drive 70mph, just takes a while to get there.
Cap and rotor were fine, going to pull the plug in a moment,
Wires were also fairly new.
Ideas?

No oil on plugs. Using the same brand/octane gas I have had since day one. New cap, rotor, wires. Now it won't idle. fluctuates between 1k-1.5k with the check engine light flashing, and misfiring like a big dog.

PROBLEM FIXED!
Checked the resistance on the wires, 7kOhms on the shortest one.....bad
Pulled cap, then coil....coil had a crack in it and was arcing out of the casing.
New MPI coil, new BWD wires from o'reilly's and we are back on the road with all 4 cylinders!
