99 civic d16 Timing Belt Tensioner, My belt is too tight, please help
My timing belt is too tight and is making noise when i accelerate.
Can someone help me on how to adjust my timing belt, I tried looking online and barely found anything.
I would really like to get this done while i adjust my valves.
Thanks a lot

is it true that you can bend valves with your timing belt too tight?? not trying to wish bad luck on the OP, just a personal question.

nah u cant bend ur valves if its too tight unless it breaks than thats a diff story
heres how to reset ur adjusting tensioner for timin belt
first loosen it the bolt on the tensioner
may need to take the plastic covering the timing belt but on my b16 theres a rubber plug right over the bolt
u have to have the timing set already
rotate crankshaft counterclockwise until u feel the belt stiff enough
usually not too stiff but has some elasticity in it, not to tight where the belt is strethcing
tighten the tensioner bolt back to 33 pounds of tq
double check, make sure to turn the crankshaft a dozen or so times to check if the timing belt doesnt wander off to the sides too much
