99' Civic B16a2 engine swap
I'm looking into getting a B16A2 engine for my 99 Civic Ex, curious as to what thing should I get to prepare my car for the swap, also something I personally want, this is my daily driver, i'd love to go with a 5 speed, however I travel a lot through the city and would prefer an automatic, however I want this transmission to take what I have planned for my car, is there a performance transmission availble for the B16A2 Engine ??

Well along with the engine swap, I was later on going to add a Greddy turbo, so i'd naturally have a lot of internal work done as well, I was looking to push about 250 - 300 Hp out of this engine

You'll want to re-think the whole automatic tranny thing then... and I would never recommend a boosted b16 for a DD. IMO you'd be better off with a GSR or ITR swap and leave it at that...

For the extra money, the OP may not be able to afford the type R swap. I only biefly looked just now, but I found a B16a2 complete swap for $2000, a GSR swap for $2900, and a Type R swap for $4000.
The reason I would probably go for a GSR motor in this case (over the GSR) is because the B16 is USDM. This means for an extra $900, you are gaining 20 hp and what, about 12-15 tq? Not too bad, but if you can afford the Type R go for it.

Re: 99' Civic B16a2 engine swap (silversurfer7852)
I'd say just go for a full LS auto swap. Why?
1.8 > 1.6 (expletive vtec), its the only usdm b-series with auto trans, and once its boosted it'll be fun. But its your car...
You def don't want to do a B16 with LS auto trans. That would probably feel just like your Y8. You can find a B16 auto tranny but they're only JDM (I think) and kinda rare

Is your middle name torque?

***NEWSFLASH***
A b-series auto tranny will NOT fit into the 96-00 civic chassis without a ton of fabrication and modification to the actual frame rail on the right side of the engine bay.
Why?
Too big.
B-series 5 speed trannies and D series auto trannies are a lot smaller than the b-series auto tranny. I know this for sure because my shop undertook an auto LS swap into a 1998 Civic LX 4-door, and not only were there no mount kits for it and we had to fabricate two mounts, and worse, CUT THE FUUCKING FRAME RAIL TO ALLOW THE TRANNY CASE TO ACTUALLY CLEAR IT!!!
I made the customer sign a waiver due to the retardedness of the frame cutting, and we instsed that a 5-speed swap would be cheaper, safer, faster, etc. but the guy would not take no for an answer.
Add to the fitment issues wiring and ECU/TCM problems and it's the most retarded swap in history.

Re: 99' Civic B16a2 engine swap (B18C5-EH2)
So it's better for me just to stick with the 5 speed Hydro tranny then huh?? kinda stinks, but I don't want to sacrifice my cars safety for convinience, but would the 5speed that comes with the B16A2 be able to take the 250-300 Hp I plan on putting in the car??
