99 B16 hydro manual tranny fluid
Hey guys,
am from overseas (outside the US)...i went to the Honda dealership and asked them for a 99 b16 hydro tranny manual fluid and they gave me 4 litres of MTF tranny fluid....now the bottles are not written in English and says its made in Thailand....now what frightens me that when i told the parts man my tranny is hydro and make sure its not for auto or even cable type tranny's he said this is what we use on both cable and hydro type manual transmission! what do you guys think? is this true? is MTF tranny fluid an OEM stock fluid? it does say Honda on the sticker and it should be original cause i bought the fluid from the dealer, but the part number my friend in Pheonix provided me doesnt match with the one i have on the bottle i have!

Re: 99 B16 hydro manual tranny fluid (IntegraTypeR)
it doesnt matter if a tranny is hydro or cable.
what matters is if its MTF or ATF, manual transmission fluid, or automatic transmission fluid.
now your throwing in hydro, for your hydraulic clutch system, are you trying to replace the hydraulic fluid? or the transmission fluid.
hydraulic fluid is any dot3 brake fluid.
if your trying to change the transmission fluid, then honda mtf is indeed correct.

cool....so this tranny fluid will be just fine even when boosted 18psi using a GT35R turbo? what causes a tranny to break?

Re: Update (Rev2Eight_EM1)
NEVER EVER synthetic in a tranny. EVAR!! Tranny oil and motor oil have different purposes, hence the different names. What causes trannies to blow is when there isnt enough TRANNY fluid or when it overheats and breaks down. Did i mention never put synthetic motor oil in it?

ok!
*if you had two choices between Shell or BP Visco 5000 engine oil which would it be? the only synthetic engine oil here is Mobil 1 and its really expensive
*do you think the bottle i have is what i should keep/use on my USDM hydro tranny? (by the way i do have a USDM hydro tranny that got built by gearspeed and shipped on the way to me)!
