Default 99/00 tails on 97 EK...Help!

I got a 97 EK with 99/00 tails. I got pulled last night because my rear turn signals are clear, not amber. I checked and they dont make an amber bulb for my car. Is their anyway maybe i can get the wiring harness from a 99/00 and plug right up to mine? I need to get amber bulbs asap, or i will get a ticket next time.
Thanxs in advance

Sure they do. You may have to order them online if they're not available locally.

Go buy a clear buld and an orange Sharpie, Work's like a charm. Make sure you get a couple coats on there.

i've been running red bulbs in the rear signals for 7 years now (97 hatch with 99 tails) and never had any issues. many cars, especially trucks, cadillacs, etc, have blinking redlights for their rear turn signals.

Add 02-03 EP3 to the list. Just use a red bulb.

It is illegal to have white taillights (that includes rear turn signals) on US vehicles. The only legal colors are red and amber (this is of course ignoring backup lights, which aren't usually used on the road anyway).

No, they don't come like that from the factory. '99-'00 Civic Si coupes came with amber bulbs in the rear turn signals.

You have the wrong harness. You still have your '96-'98 harnesses and likely your '96-'98 bulbs. You need amber turn signals. There are amber bulbs out there for the '96-'98 socket, but the easiest thing to do is to replace the harnesses and forever just buy the easier to find amber bulbs that the '99-'00 Civic coupes are supposed to use.

Though it might not seem like a big deal, you were still breaking a law. So the cop was completely within reason to pull you over and getting (OMG) a warning.

Go replace the bulbs or better yet, the harnesses, and go on with life.

Back in the day of all clear tails I used to get fucked with for having blue turn signal bulbs all the time. Eventually I got tired of it and got some clear bulb's and used a marker, with a could coats you couldn't tell the difference. Just try it, if anything it will get you by until you can find the right bulbs or buy a set of 99-00 harness's.

Well i'm from Iowa and you can have CLEAR bulbs just not anything like HYPER white with a tint of blue. Anything blue or red flashing is illegal. I heard it had to do with impersonating a police car. ?? but yea i'd just dip them in paint you'll be set.

It does make sense.

Federal traffic laws state that stret vehicles must have either red or amber rear turn signals.

You can have red in your tails in Iowa, just not blue. When it comes to neons you can't have blue or red. He's right about the impersonating an emergency vehicle. Cop's in Iowa can be dicks about it, especially in small towns.

That's regarding strobing lights. Blue lights are illegal on cars that are not emergency vehicles though (save for a few classic cars that came with very small ones stock, just like some came with only one brake light on one side).
