99-00 Tail lights, turn singal color
Ok, I just installed a set of 99-00 tail lights in my 96 Coupe and I need to know if the turn singals are supposed to be white or amber? Mine are lighting up white, as white as my reverse lights.
Thanks!!

Depending how the cops are in your area, you might want to go back to amber.

I think the OEM ones have an amber inlay that make them amber. I don't own an EK, so I'm not exactly sure.

I checked the part numbers on my Honda Electronic Parts catalog and it shows the same bulb used on the 1996 & the 1999 Honda Civic EX. What I need to know is if this is true or not.

The EKs I've seen have had amber turn signals. Whether or not this is factory, I cannot say. Regardless, it's a real easy fix either way you look at it.

the 96-98 have a clear wedge type bulb, the 99-00 have a amber standart socket style bulb, the reason your having trouble is because I dont think they make your wedge stye bulb in amber because your amber color came from the housing itself

bingo. i couldn't find any amber wedge bulbs. so i used amber transparent glass spray paint and sprayed the bulbs.

To start, it has nothing to do with laws, these cars all came the same way from the factory. Is there an amber plastic reflector that is supposed to be in these lights? Every book I look at shows a standard 7440 bulb for the tail light (96-98 & 99-00). I looked up close to a 99-00 Civic today and when I looked into the tail light, I could see amber inside, so either the bulb its selfs are amber or there is a plastic reflector inside, I need to know which it is.

Re: (MNCRXSi)
The 96-98 tails have clear bulbs, and use the amber casing to produce the amber light. The 99-00 tails have amber bulbs.
If you swapped the 96-98 tails for the 99-00 tails the amber bulbs from the 99-00 will not work. You need S2000 amber bulbs, or you can paint the clear ones from your 96-98.

It may look good. But it's not legal.
