Default 99-00 OEM SI Sway Bar Questions

So I searched and I just want to confirm some information I've read. I have a 99 EX coupe and I'm aware that the LCA's should be pre-drilled and ready for an OEM sway bar to be bolted up to it.

I'm also aware that I'll need the bar, D brackets, SI endlinks (NOT gsr) and the various washers and bolts.

My questions are:
1) Would someone care to further explain everything I need in detail? Pictures would be even better than words.

2) Maybe I'm just absolutely retarded but what are the D brackets? In some threads I found, certain D brackets only worked with certain applications. I don't want to be stuck with the wrong hardware.

3) Anything else I should know before buying and installing? I don't plan on hardcore track/auto-x so I do not want an ITR/CTR/aftermarket 22mm+ sway bar nor do I want/need an ASR brace.

Take a look at the picture in the link. The D bracket is number 28, bushings are 29, the bracket that connects the D bracket and the chassis is 30, and you already know about the endlinks and the various nuts and bolts. Everything is there in the picture. Hope that helps!

you really won't feel any difference between no sway and the si sway its soo tiny to do much of anything. I had my stock sway on my civic had to cut the endlinks to put my new lca's on and was running without the sway for a while.. and yea.. couldn't tell a difference

I've driven a stock SI comparing it with my stock EX. Noticeable difference . It was stock vs. stock.

Thats cause the si has a beefier suspension. But you will notice a slight change with the sawy bar like I did on my 96 civic EX

If you mean beefier due to spring rates that are like, close to little stiffer over EX, than I guess you could call it "beefier". And I guess the OEM strut bar as well .

Yes, I did. I took certain corners at set speeds in both cars. I felt less body roll/chassis twist. The second I pointed the SI into the corner, I felt it corner better immediately.

The SI front sway is 26mm and the EX front sway is 22MM. That's not "humongous". So it's nothing to make THAT much of a noticeable difference. Maybe 10+MM sure.

i was saying the si front sway is humongous especially when its in tandem with the pewny stock rear sway understeer ftl

its your doe man.. all you need is the sway some si endlinks and the sway bar brackets and bushings

http://www.energysuspension.co....html <<bushings and brackets just get it for your size bar

I should've stated the purpose of my car originally in my first post. But I'm not looking for anything exciting. My car is ONLY a DD. Will never be anything more. So to even have JUST an added sway bar ("puny" or not) does make a difference in just DD driving.

Actually, when I put the Si rear sway bar on my EX sedan, I felt a noticable difference in body sway. At the time, I just had some Eibach sportlines and stock shocks, and the sway bar did wonders. But now I have Tein coilovers and don't really feel a difference with the Si sway bar on or off...time to upgrade!

Honestly, I would love a CTR/ITR with ASR Brace combo but it's just a bit too aggressive for me as a DD. Considering you have to use a subframe reinforcement brace with a 19MM+ bar just shows how strong the sway bar will be and how much of a difference it would make.

For a DD that won't see auto-x'ing or track days, an SI one is fine for me. Appreciate the input though .

I wish I could afford the CTR/ASR kit but that's just way too much money for 2 parts. When I could spend like $40/50 on an SI bar with hardware, and spend the rest on more important stuff I need like replacing the belts and water pump.

itr/ctr/.....wtf?

is there an acronym dictionary?
I am a total newb and have no idesa what you guys are talking about. I have a 99 Si = stock and would like it to be more stable in the corners without lowering it.

suggestions?

ITR = Integra Type R
CTR = Civic Type R

Both of them are 20MM+ sway bars and are MUCH better than OEM SI/GSR sway bars.

You want more stable cornering? Get higher spring rate springs, better shocks, bigger rear sway bar, subframe reinforcement brace, better tires, roll cage (if you wanna go all out), h-brace if u arent too low, bigger front sway, all the strut/tie bars, and lose some weight (gut the car).

Thanks amej8, I have been hearing some creaking in my suspension lately so am going to take it in and have my mechanic look at it. I will ask him about the spring rates and sway bars.

He has an Integra Type R so he may know how to help me.
