I was told by many that I can not use the 99-00 Civic Si engine harness because 96-98 Civic are OBD2a and 99-00 Civic Si is OBD2B. So my question is why not? I know it doesnt plug into OBD2a ECU but what if i wanted to use an engine and ECU thats from a OBD2B on my 97 Civic Hatch? Since the Civic Si engine harness is one piece that connects all the way to the ECU unlike Integras with two seperate harness.

you CAN use it, but it requires repinning some things. get the diagrams of both and you'll see it

Was just running it this my self in 00 civic I have b18c in the car and my sir harness just decided to give me a hole headache of problems and I need my car to run would anyone know what pins I'd need to change to get 96 98 si harness to work for my car

You're gonna have to re-pin using ffsquads obd2a and obd2b ecu pinouts.

just went thru all this on my 97 civic b16 swapped, trust me your best bet is get an ex harness and extend wires. I didnt like that idea at first but it's super simple, I dont have power steering either so i removed the pressure switch from the harness. also gives you a good time to re wrap the whole harness and give it a good look. just my two cents

If you're going to be cleaning up and re-wrapping, using the harness that came with the car is just as easy. No need to buy an EX harness. I used my 1997 LX harness for my EM1 B16A2 swap and it was pretty easy. Just add VTEC, Knock and move some pins around. All in all, it looks like the OEM harness and took about a day.

OP, I know this seems really daunting before you dig in, but once you see it all laid out and have the motor in front of you, it's very easy.
