Default 99-00 Civic HID OEM Fog light install?

I can get an H3 McCullough 3000K HID kit for cheap but wanted to know if it was possible to install it within the OEM housing? The only thing that is stopping me from buying them IS the Honda fog light harness and the fog light. I'm not sure if I can connect the HID H3s to the ballast. Any info or advice would be appreciative.

all i did was cut the rubber boot on the headlight so that the hid bulb would fit in there tightly.. works great! (mine are G35 ballasts and bulbs)

Judging by the photo of the beam pattern, it doesn't work all that well.

However, the original poster was asking about an HID kit in a set of OEM fog lamps. I have no first-hand experience with this, but I would imagine that it can be done, though there might be a slight amount of modification required. What I can say is that most people recommend against H3 HID kits because of the difference between the H3's horizontal filament and the HID capsule's vertical arc, which can cause issues with the beam pattern. That being said, I've seen relatively decent results with projectors, but have yet to see anything in a reflector housing. Personally, I would stick with high-quality halogen bulbs, which will maintain the proper optics and are a better color temperature for use in inclement weather.

You dont put HID into OEM EG housings . Thats what causes massive glare.

Thanks for the input. I'm still doing some research on this since it really won't cost me anything to attempt it.

Definately let us know. I was thinking of doing this to the fogs in my EG and my EK and then just use the fogs when glare wasn't a real concern.

I put HIDS on my fogs on my 99 ek. It does work, and looks sick as hell, but to make it work right and fit well, you need to figure out a way to get the bulb wiring into the fog housing. I just cut and butt connected the wiring though the holes. You can can use the stock OEM wiring harness. The Mulloucgh kit utlizes a stock h3 connector which it pulls power from (mine did anyways).

On another note, not to discourage you, but im having a voltage problem. For some reason im not getting enough volts to the fogs, which rarely sometimes cause the fogs to flicker off, on one side. I havent figured out if this is the OEM harness problem or something else, but when i figure it out ill share.

I had this same problem with my fogs. You know in the 99-00 OEM Fog Light harness there is a Brown Plug that is on the driverside that you have to plug in. Well I found out that, that plug was my problem. It would disconnect. So I hard wired it together and Never have had a problem since.
