Honda MTF is the only thing I would ever use. Isn't mtf just motor oil?
Never use Gear Oil

I use Castrol GTX 10w-40 in my S4C.

56,000 miles and still shifts like butta - at least when it's warmed up. This car was also never serviced for the synchronizer TSB.

Honda MTF is good, as is GM Synchromesh. Most engine oils work fine as well. Do not use gear oil.
