Don't remember the brand. I'll update if I can find it.

EDIT- The headlight repair kit was Diamondite

Got the fenders and hood hung last night. Everything fit pretty decent considering we cut the front of the car off. I'll let the body guy screw with it.

Few pics:

Quick update. Got the front sprayed and the doors blended. Need to bolt up the bumper and inner fenders, then clay bar / buff / wax the rest of the car. Also need to throw an alternator in it since the bearings are screaming.

Diamondite. Noted.

The paint looks murderous! Please take that as a compliment.

3M makes a similar kit, the just of it is sanding your headlights down from a rougher grit (like 600-800) to 1000, then 2000, 3000, then polishing them

3M also has a kit that is a 'no tools' version, I do NOT recommend that unless you want to spend forever polishing one headlight, use a drill and be cautious to not overheat the plastic and your lights will be OEM fresh

ALSO: That paint does look great, did you spray it in your own garage?

My friend has a body shop and sprayed it for me. He also hooked me up on the fenders, hood, and bumper.

The blue truck in some of the pics was painted in my Father's garage. We did a frame off build on that. Just finished it a month ago. He also has a 57 Chevy pickup we are going to start working on again. (454, 4 speed, airbags, wilwood brakes etc)

My brother has a 1 ton Chevy 4x4. We're always wrenching on something.

Attempted to put the bumper and grill on last night but the clips I got at Napa weren't even close to working. Had to order new clips from Majestic.

Looks Nice. Nice pick up on the cars btw. I just got a 96 DX Hatch that should fix up to be a nice little gas saver. Can't wait to see yours finished.

Quick update. The clips should be delivered today so hopefully I'll get the front and inner fenders on.

I got a CEL with a PO420 code. I'm assuming it's the cat. I took the cat from the other car since this one was smashed.

What is everyone's opinion on replacement cats/manifolds? I'd rather get a new one, but not a $450 one from Majestic.

Will a manifold from rockauto throw codes? Something like this http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=539480

Thanks

Yeah, I used a similar system from Turtle Wax that one of my housemates had laying around. It worked pretty well. I'd give it a B at best, but I'll be looking into one of these when the time comes again. (I miss glass headlights. My '90 Accord had them, still clear as a desert sky 20 years later.)

Weld a straight pipe through with a bung, then 02 spark plug de-fouler trick ftw

only if your not in an emissions testing state, that was my set up ^^ in ny

EDIT: isn't p0420 the secondary o2?

Everything I've read points to the catalyst efficiency?? It's very possible the secondary 02 is bad.

Anyone??

I had the p0420 code on my 00 ex.

It most likely means your cat is bad, although it could be an exhaust leak as well.
In my case, my secondary 02 was getting a similar reading to my primary 02.

I also didn't have a cat, i just had a piece of pipe welded straight through with a bung.

If you don't want to buy a cat, you can just do the de fouler trick which will get rid of the CEL.

If you search, there are a ton of threads on P0420

I've been reading and searching a lot. I read about the de fouler trick. I had to buy a brand new pre-cat sensor ($380 from Majestic) and really don't want to spend another $400 on a new manifold.

Will the de fouler trick affect the tune? I assume I can't get through emissions with it?

My project beater is starting to cost me...

It shouldn't affect the tune, but i have no idea I don't tune cars lol.

Essentially all your doing with the trick is moving the secondary o2 farther back so less exhaust reaches the o2 and getting a different reading.

Have you tried swapping the manifold/cat combo off the DX you have? Just be sure to use the O2 sensors off the Hx Y5 motor, it has a 5 wire wideband primary O2 sensor.

This is the manifold from the DX. The original manifold was cracked by the 02 sensor. I had to buy a new 5 wire O2 sensor since the original got smashed in the accident. The post cat O2 sensor could possibly be bad, but shouldn't it throw a code?

Haven't done anything to the car but drive the hell out of it. Averaging 38 mpg.

I started having a problem today where it sputters very hard at around 4,500 rpm. It has brand new cap, rotor, plugs, and wires.

Thoughts?

Yeah the cat may be clogged, choking the motor in higher rpms. Get a D series header off Ebay or a Megan Racing header and a cat for a EX. Normally cheaper than buying a HX mani cat combo and it will make a bit more power. You will also need Password JMD O2 extension harnesses. Just dont expect a lot out of the Y5 motor, just great MPGs. Mine got 40MPG and 38 if I beat on it.
The PO420 could also be from the new primary O2 sensor and a old secondary O2 sensor. The older a O2 sensor gets is becomes more lazy. That is fine if both sensors are the same age but the secondary is now older and slow to respond than the primary. This can cause a P420 cat efficiency code. The ECU looks at the data from both O2 sensors to determine if the cat is working correctly.
To test the cat get a lazer temp gun and check the temp going into the cat and coming out of the cat. Out should be at least 100 degree hotter than going in. If all is good then the cat is fine and its the secondary O2 sensor. This will not cause a O2 sensor code because the sensor is still working but is lazy.
