'98 honda civic...needing suggestions
i recently purchased another car so i could start to convert my '98 honda civic ex 2dr coupe. (btw, does anyone know if that is a vtec stock or not?)
anyways, i was wanting suggestions from any hardcore civic people out there on the best engine to put in, other mods, etc. what's good and what's not. the body is silver and i think i'm gonna leave that for now. thought about doing blue w\ white rims later and blue and white interior or something. we've considered both the b16a and the b18a engines. should i go turbocharger or supercharger?
well, i guess that's all for now. thanks in advance for ANY input you guys have.

a ex is vtec, i would sugest putting a b18c1 in to your civic, most bang for your buck, but if you are going to go the forced induction route i would say go with the b18a, it can handle boost better than a b16a

Welcome to the MB. Honda-Tech has a really good search feature here, so if you just type in various subjects you will find all kinds of great info that has already been discussd in other threads.
Your 98 EX does indeed have VTEC from the factory. 127hp D16Y8 if I'm not mistaken.
If your question was rather you should boost on the stock motor or get a swap, then I would say GET the SWAP.
Even a boosted SOHC VTEC would have a difficult time keeping up with a properly running DOHC VTEC swap. You would need to build up the SOHC motor and boost a lot more than just the 6lbs. that most turbo and superchargers come with, and the reliability would still be a lot more questionable than a STOCK DOHC VTEC motor.
Try a search and type in B16A B18C1 and B18B all in the same search and you will come up with a lot of topics with just comparisons on those motors.
Godd luck.
