98 honda civic cranks but will not start
i drive a 98 honda civic ex and i am having a hard time figuring out why it wont start the plugs are good the starter is brand new and im getting compression but as i try to start my car the battery cables become very hot what could it possibly be

Are you getting spark and fuel? That's what I would check first. Give your starter a min or two in between starting so you don't overheat it. If you have a friend with an extra Ecu I would try that if your not getting spark and fuel.

Uh, shouldn't that be a clue? You have a bad ground, possibly everywhere.. You need to redo/clean all of your electrical grounds and make sure your wiring hasn't gone bad. Though you didn't specify what got hot and if it's the positive that got hot, then you'll want to redo all connections to that as well..
