Default 98 honda civic

I have a 98 honda civic. While I was driving yesterday I had my foot on the clutch and took my foot off the gas to slow down. I didn't come to a complete stop (car still moving about 20 mph) I want to hit the gas to go, and nothing. It was just like the engine turned off. Now it will not turn back on. The ignition works like it wants to turn on but nothing happens. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be, or are there to many possibilities to say with out looking at it?
