98 hatch, high idle/accelerates on its own
here's the story. havent driven my 98 hatch in a few years. got a beater and went off to college. my dad took out the battery one day during winter and "short circuited" some stuff, inc my cd player and the light bulbs in the dashboard.
when i came back from college, my dad said something was wrong with the car. car starts up fine, and it idles ok. but once you take it out around the block, car accelerates by itself to 2k rpm and stays there; i have to put it into neutral or break really hard. cant figure what is wrong with it. yes, very very shitty gas mileage as a result.
my mods are:
y8 IM
full 2.25 exhaust
generic headers
generic intake
here's one thing i noticed: when i disconnected the TPS, idle goes down (to almost normal, around 800-1k) and it stops accelerating by itself. but its weak/hesitates/and runs like **** during WOT. plug it back in, and it does the same thing again.
ive had some buddies tell me that it could be a vacuum leak around the TB or the IM itself, but it wasnt doing this before when i was driving it so i dont think its that. at the moment, im thinking its the TPS sensor. already ordered one and its on its way. but just in case, id like to hear some opinions about my situation or if anyone has gone through the same ordeal.

Clean the throttle body and adjust the throttle cable so that it has some slack.
Any CEL codes thrown?

Re: 98 hatch, high idle/accelerates on its own
I just had an issue with my iacv doing exactly this after my car warmed up. high idle around 2k rpm. I unplugged it and it ran normal, but had a cel. I run Hondata so i just disabled it for now.
