Default '98 harnes in '00 civic

So due to this on going EM1 civic restore in my garage, im thinking of just starting fresh with the wiring under the dash and redoing everything. Theres a guy in my area selling the entire under dash harness from a 98 civic, and i could pick it up for about $65. What jumper harness(s) would i need to run this from my p2t ecu to my cabin fuse box? If someone could explain it in laymans terms, or paste a nice thread that explains the whole obd2a/b deal, that would be great.

... i may just end up taking this civic to the local stereo install shop and seeing if they'd be willing to wire everything right...

Not gonna happen. The OBD2A and OBD2B dash and hood harnesses are not compatible.

Really? Damn... so its my best bet to get any replacement wiring out of either a '99 or '00? I already have a replacement harness out of a 98, which runs from the fuse box to the gauges and then the radio... its not working right though, could that be my problem? I have another thread on that issue and i was told i should be okay...

You can't mix and match harnesses - it's all of one, or all of the other. A complete harness out of a 96-98 EX can be made to work with minimal modification, but you would need the complete harness, not just the cabin harness. Ideally, you would use one from a 99-00 SI, or 99-00 EX.

the dash harness is 2 parts mind you 3/4 of the 2nd one goes out into the bay could he not just use the 1st part(cluster,CC,ACC) one connected to the bigger 2nd portion.

at least with the integra's we have a 2 portion dash harness so not sure if the civics do

Im not sure i understand... im wondering if my gauges wont work because i used a 98 cluster harness plugged into a 2000 fuse box... but i think it might have been you who said that they should be fine?
just wanted to double check that thats not my issue

cluster harnesses are the same. every other harness on the car is completely different. the wiring for the climate/radio, power windows/locks, etc are different between 96-98 and 99-00.

well the cluster harness runs to the radio/climate control as well.
so i shouldnt know the difference if im running a 98 dash harness on my '00 civic? or would it explain the reason both of my gauge clusters arent working...

its really very dificult to find a clear answer on this..
