98 ek with 96 gsr - high idle problem
98 ek with 96 gsr. idle is 2-2500. I took off the iacv cleaned it in solvent over night put it back on the idle dropped down to 1400. then I realized I didnt plug the sensor clip back in. idle went back up.
if I get another iacv will it work or should I go onto other things? what car would I have to get it from?
i read 96+ engines dont have a fitv. but I can see what looks exactly like one under the throttle body. I dont want to go in there cleaning it because its looks like a Bitch. is that the next step?
or does un hooking the iacv wiring and that happen show something?
thx!!!

Re: IACV quick help.
engine lights?
if so which codes?
make sure the engine light illuminates for 2000ms(2 sec) when turning key to II position before start.

Re: IACV quick help.
Quick question, do you have the stock intake manifold? Reason I ask is because the skunk2 intake manifold fits both the 2 wire iacv and the 3 wire iacv. This can lead to some idle issues if you use the wrong one. BTW as far as i know when you unclip the iacv sensor, your idle is suppose to drop down.

Re: IACV quick help.
If your engine is utilizing an OBD2 ecu you must check for cel's and let the codes tell you, an idle that high must be from a fault which would trip the sensor, soooo fix the engine light problem first, or plug an OBD2 scanner into it.

Re: 98 ek with 96 gsr - high idle problem
P72 obd2 until I get a jumper to run a chipped p28
Im searching for my scanner....Erase codes and go
From there
Stock manifold and tb.
Throttle plate is right shut and idle screw closed

Re: 98 ek with 96 gsr - high idle problem
then erase them and check to see if/when they come back, most OBD2 codes will take 2 or more trips to come back so a few drives might be necessary.
If the fault comes back instantly after clear/reset then you have a fault in the wiring.
you want my opinion, I thing that something physical is causing the high idle
something like a vacuum leak, search and find the best way for you dor checking for vacuum leaks, it is not hard.

I'll look more today for the reader. It's not a fresh swap I'm pretty sure it ran somewhat normal in its history.
I mean erase them as in find the codes (ex knock sensor and o2 sensor) and have those disabled in the new basemap.
Motor has been in limp mode for a while it time to open her up
One open vac line one the tb I searched and it isn't or anything I just caped it off
