98 Coupe to Sedan exhaust swap....
Im looking for an Apex-i N1 for my wifes car. They dont make one for a 4 door, (just found that out) I was told i need to but a coupe model exhaust and it will fit, just one of the hangers wont line up.. Is this true? I would think you would have to extend the exhaust as well. Has anyone done this, and maybe have some pictures? thanks alot

exhaust shops can put the muffler in any which way you want. If you want it straight from the cat to the muffler going only down the middle of the car they could do that. Save you atleast 1/2 the price.

Yup.
My bud had an Apex'i WS on his 92 4 door, and after he wrecked it, we sold it to a kid with a 96 coupe, and it bolted up perfectly.

Re: (spoonie_GSR)
if your gonna use a coupe exhaust system your gonna have to add a couple of inches on it... i had to do that when i put on my GReddy EVO2 exhaust system... other than that everything else bolts up

WTF? Read the link in my sig; it includes personal experience and textual evidence. I did not--along with COUNTLESS OTHER H-T PEOPLE--have to "add a couple of inches on it." Are you sure the exhaust you bought was made for your Civic?

Re: (Daniel)
The LX/DX exhausts are different because they have the gay integrated cat/header combination. An exhaust designed for a coupe DX will fit any LX or DX fine, but an EX one might be different.

Re: (BauleyCivic)
Yeah, the cat thing definitely applies, but a lot of people still have the misconception that coupes are physically longer than sedans, which just isn't true at all. I don't know why it bugs me so much. Maybe I should just stop caring and throw down some .

yup it was off of a coupe... needed to add 3in. on it...

Re: (mugencivic4dr)
Then the exhaust was poorly designed because both exhausts are the same whether for a coupe or sedan, assuming the trim lines are equal (i.e. EX, LX/DX, etc.). Don't believe me then read the link. Your case is an exception, and I hope other people aren't mislead into believing the sedan is longer than the coupe. Comptech even told me over the phone that they had a sedan in their shop to verify that the coupe is shorter. (I called to ask about their cat-back.) ****, then I guess Draggin99Si's EM1 COUPE bumper that fit on my EJ8 sedan was a fluke and vice versa! I'm tired of referring people to my link.

Coupe and Sedan are the same length and exhaust hangers all go in the same spot. But, the header is the only thing that makes a difference
D16Y7 Sedan Exhaust = D16Y7 Coupe Exhaust
D16Y8 Sedan Exhaust = D16Y8 / B16A2 Coupe Exhaust
Hatches are shorter and don't apply.
Sorry for being incredibly redundant.
