Default 98 Civic : Stock Motor - Engine Noise HELP

Ok so I picked my 98 Civic EX coupe not too long ago (month or two) and Ive been noticing a rattle coming from the engine.

The rattling is about 1600-1800rpms. Nothing major but it noticeable.

It happens in any gear and im a noob so any help would be appreciated. TIA

Well sorry to be the bearer of BAD news but, by any chance does it stop when the clutch is engaged and starts again with clutch disengaged? Does it sound like a rattling sound and only gets worse the higher the RPMs are? Does it sound worse when you let go throttle? If you answered yes to thes than its your ISB(Input Shaft Bearing) inside your tranny housing. Its a PITA to change. Look it up on the FAQs should be able to find out about it or use the Search function. G/L

same as mine. not griding any gears. some people told me that it could be a tooth in the gears that are chipped.

From what i read so far on the comments. i believe it is the heat shield. i have a 98 civic . and it had the same problem. the catalyc converter was in-front stuck to the hedders. and not under the car. just take of the heat shield.
