Hey guys, I rear ended someone's truck. I am not sure if you guys can even assess the severity of the damage but I thought I'd give it a try as I am pretty depressed about this.

Sad, sad day. The car functions normally, no leaking of fluids at all. The hood latch bar part looks like its bent in and one of the lights is pretty messed although they still work and are in relatively the same place.

Damage thoughts?

If possible, pop the trunk and take pictures of the rad support. That pic doesn't tell us much.

It's a hatchback, so no trunk.

Yea, I figured it wouldn't show much. Body shop doesn't open until Monday .

That is the other side. I am also mentally challenged when it comes to cars! In any case, the hood won't open it seems to be stuck in that glorious position .

Right now I would say you need to just swap out the radiator support.

Thanks grumble! I am pretty concerned but I should have been paying attention in teh first place.

i'm in the same exact position bud. mines not as bad but i need a new core support and pretty much the same exact parts as well.

radiator support is not an easy task. but it is definitely doable. its welded on, not bolted on so you have to drill out a lot of small spot welds to get it off. then spot weld the new one on. the rest of it is pretty much bolt on depending on of any of the frame and inner fender lining is damaged which would require welding as well.

like said your looking at $1000 minimum for new parts and paint. 1500-2000 for a job well done.

Well if you have a buddy that can weld go get a good junkyard rad support and have him weld it on. As for the paint if you dont care just save up for it or find a close match. Best way to open it is gonna have ro be by cutting it or trying to shove a pipe to try n unbend it but its not gonna be easy.... Its not that bad really and not that expensive if you can get freinds to help. Good luck

Similar thing happened to me a while ago. Ended up going to a local scrap yard and got a core support for 45 bucks. However, You will need a good cordless drill. In my case, I went to home depot and bought the most bad a$$ drill I could find. I then just returned the drill a week later; home depot has a good return policy.

my buddy was in same position as well but he dropped about $800 just go to do some homework and take your time

Ouch! I thought MY hood looked bad after I hit a 180lb deer doing 65mph. :O

Anyway, what the others have said is right. A shop is going to rape you for something like that, but it'd be a toughie to DIY. That being said, if you want to take your time and learn about DIY body work and save some money in the process, here's your chance. #silverlining

My car was damaged like this when I bought it - it was cheap, so I didn't mind budgeting for repairs. It looks like at minimum you'll need passenger headlight, bumper cover, grille, hood, passenger side fender, radiator support, and paint when it's all done. I had a local body shop do the support for me. I supplied the part, they welded in the support and painted it the right color for $700 cash. I thought that was a pretty good deal. They also pulled my passenger side frame rail - my car was a little worse off than yours. I left a good hood and passenger fender with the car so they could mock them up. Everything fit well after it was fixed.
