Re: 98 civic
Is it just throwing codes 300-304? Any other odd behavior? Does it misfire at idle, under acceleration or just when under load? My engine ran rough as hell and misfired like crazy due to my fuel filter being plugged up. Oh yes, since you said you replaced the wires and cap, are you sure they are in the proper order?

the idle is perfect is right were it needs to be.. when i start it up and let it run and warm up its start to misfire when i drive it, it misfires a little then my check engine light starts to flash none stop and then its starts to misfiring more..

Re: 98 civic
It could be. Warm the car up to the point where it begins to misfire, turn off the engine and check the spark. Could be something as simple as bad sparkplug wires or your coil could be going.

Re: 98 civic
Replace the fuel filter and rotor.
Resistance test the coil and have an auto parts store test the ICM.
You will destroy the cat ($$$) if you continue to drive when the CEL blinks.

Also, please place simple tech descriptions and questions directly into the thread title.

Truth on the cat thing, my CEL clicks on constantly for code 0420 since I drove while the engine was misfiring. Luckily, I just passed inspection.

Re: 98 civic
The missfire codes are 300-304 (one for each cylinder.) You gotta have them check your ICM at the autoparts store as well. And check the coil, for sure.

Could be a variety of things. Do as Ronj and the others says fuel filter, rotor and check out the coil/ignitor. Also what is the mileage on the vehicle? Ever had a valve adjustment.
