Icon2 98 civic hatch ek???

im buying a honda civic hatch on the 3rd (a week and a half from now) i sent a trusted friend to go and test drive it and talk with the guy since i cant get off work early enough to drive different cars.

anyway its good to go but i had a question. he says its a EK. what is that iv never herd of that model/trim pachage/whatever before just the normal cx dx ex ones.

i went on advanced auto parts and summit racing to price an o2 sensor since thats the only code that was poped and clutches but there is no EK model to choose from under 98 honda civic on either sight.

so whats the deal can you give me some info. (first honda if ya cant tell lol)

the "EK" is the body style of the civic.

Missed the link? There's Google too. If the OP is in the US, chances are GREAT that it is NOT an true EK since they were never sold here. If you aren't sure, check the VIN.

There are 5th generation and 6th generation Civics. Anyone calling the 6th gens an "EK" is doing so incorrectly.

Don't get the guy off on the wrong foot. You just fed him misinformation.

OP - Ask what trim the 98 Civic is -- CX, DX, LX, HX, EX, Si

Also get the VIN and post it here.

Next ask whether the car is bone stock or has been modified. In general, you want a stock 98 Civic. You don't want to buy somebody's past project (nightmare).

Coupe, sedan, or hatch?

Again, the best civic to buy would be bone stock with no CEL codes. Otherwise, you could find yourself owning a nightmare.

Not really, since it would be gray market, and technically illegal in the States.

As long as you aren't in California, a Catalytic converter will run you ~$100-$150. If it's a 96-00 "base model", it's either a CX or DX.

I have a 99 and its a EJ6. I was always thought the ek is a chassis code in japan for the ctr.
