My 98 civic ex automatic starts and drives and shifts great. It goes 3 or 4 city miles and acts like I shifted into neutral (engine still running), I put it in park, turn the ignition off, start the car and put it in drive and it drives and shifts great for another 3 or 4 miles then it happens again and again. Please help!

Dave go check out the transmission forum you might have better and quicker luck over there.

Don't need to go to the transmission forum. It sounds like your clutch packs are slipping. Start by replacing your transmission fluid, but the tranny might need an overhaul. When you drain out the fluid, pay close attention to any debris that might be in it.
