98 Civic Ex - throttle going crazy after replacing alternator
hi i have a 98 Ex i just replaced the alternator on it and when i went to start it its like the gas is on the floor. id assume i messed something up when i was doing the alternator but i dont see anything and the throttle cable doesnt seem to be the problem theres no slack or anything. any help greatly appreciated!

Yeah you should take off the plastic intake tube connected to the throttle body to double check that the throttle body is closed

You could also put some WD-40 or other penetrating lube on the part that opens and closes, the half moon or cheese wedge shaped piece by the throttle body. Is the gas pedal harder to press? Might be letting in more air and making it rev up.
Or vacuum leak ? Did you reconnect all hoses?

Check the tps that you didn't crack or break it, also check the wiring. Faulty tps even at idle can make the ecu think it's at wot.
