98 Civic EX Stalling & Hesitating No Codes
I spent hours reading the treads and need help please!
1998 Civic EX Automatic
16VHGBBE
1.6 SOHC VTEC
MFR code EJ824WJW
The car starts and runs fine at idle, 1500 rpm and 2500 rpm sitting in park..
Drive it and it hesitates upon acceleration at 15 to 30mph..
I have a code scanner and there are no codes..
I cleaned the IAC, map sensor, throttle body.
Replaced the spark plugs.

I am no expert but I just had the same problem and it was my distributor cap. another time it was the ignition wires.

<p>If the engine is not surging, then why did you post two different idle speeds? In addition, the idle speed is abnormally high. Check whether the thottle cable is adjusted too tightly.</p>

Yes. The car runs fine at idle (comma) 1500 rpm and 2500 rpm with the car in park,, meaning it only acts up going down the road.

<p>Haha...I'll return to this thread in a month or so to give you time to write a clear, unambiguous description of your car problems and to see whether you've provided all relevant information.</p>

The problem with parts stores is that unless you know exactly what you need, you're going to buy ****. It doesn't matter if you go to Napa, or Autozone, or Advance, they all sell you **** if you don't know what you're looking at, and if you do know what you're looking at, you can get them cheaper elsewhere.

Just order the parts online if u don't mind waiting And u can get a deal on those basic parts for the ignition that may need to be replaced anyways fresh. Stick with Honda brand or NGK or Denso. Those makers are tried and true. U can get the off brands but like said above might be a real hit or miss.
