Default airbox question

i'm already using the ciivc airbox with k&N panel filter, with aluminum ducting that goes to the front for cold air
i'm wonderig is it possible to use an integra airbox my car(d16y8 civic)
also with integra airbox with K&N cone air filter inside, will it make more power compare to civic airbox ?

Sounds like you have the 96+ civic, and (if you have the side-throttlebody, not the verticle one), then you might be able to use the integra Airbox, you'd have to also get the air-tube (off of a B18B1 motor), and a big-*** clamp. I did it in my EH civic (92-95), but it shouldn't be much different, ONE spot will bolt-up, the other (spot behind headlight) would need to be drilled. Oh, and take off the 3rd leg from the box, it'll interfere w/ the lower-radiator hose. I like the 'teg airbox b/c you can use ducting right to the bottom piece of the box and duct it right to the front (dunno, I like mines b/c it looks pretty ). Plus it comes handy when you swap to a b18-series motor. Since you have a newer 96+ chassis, I'd say get a 99+ Si intake-box, it should bolt right in. Either way, the teg (and I think 99+ Si) intake tubes are like 2.5-3" (the teg one tapers from 3" to 2.5"), and it actually helps over the stock airbox w/ ducting (I know, I did it).

It will not make more power save your money.

well, dunno - I noticed a nice difference when I switched from the open-air intake I made ($5 proline filter on stock civic hose), to the completly closed GS-R/LS Airbox w/ LS tube (larger than my civic tubing) on my old D16Z6 motor. True, its nothing fancy like a polished aftermarket intake, but for the $5 I spent on the airbox w/ hose, it seemed worthwhile - and it performed just like one. Oh well, to each their own I guess.
