Default 98 Civic EX sometimes won't start

Hey guys, I have a unique problem starting my car. A month ago I can start my car fine on either side of the key. Now sometimes, the car won't start(won't crank but the dash lights all go off). When I insert the key one side(Call this side A) it sometimes has a better chance of cranking and starting the car. On side B it doesn't crank unless I hold it there for 3-4 seconds and will then start. What can be the problem? Either side of the key primes the fuel pump, it just doesn't crank instantly unless I hold it for 3-4 seconds then it will crank and start right up. I also have no CEL. Thanks
