'98 Civic EX Build Thead
So let me start off by saying that I'm new on HT, however I've been lurking the forums for almost a year. I'm currently an unemployed 16 year old, so I'm looking for a job so I can get this build rolling smoothly. I have had the car since last September, but I rarely drove it as I didn't have my license at the time. I thought that I would create a build thread as I have long-term plans for this car and I would like to look back on this and see the overall progress that I make. Now that I've got that out away, let's get started.
Information:
D16Y8 w/ 207,XXX miles
DC Sports 4-2-1 Header
Stock Airbox
Stock Intake Manifold
Muffler Delete
Light Hail Damage and Body Damage
Oil Leak(s)
Rust...
This is the car currently:
(engine bay needs cleaning)
Current Plans: (long term)
Fix Oil Leak(s)
Bay Shave and Wire Tuck
Engine Swap (B16A2 w/ GSR head?)
Coilovers/Suspension Upgrades
'99-'00 Front/Rear End Conversion
'99-'00 Climate Control and A/C
5-Lug Conversion
White Diamond Racing Wheels
Get it repainted Electron Blue Pearl

Re: '98 Civic EX Build Thead
Here is the oil leak coming from the dizzy. I am stopping by Honda tomorrow afternoon to get a new o-ring.
I may pick up some degreaser this weekend to clean up the bay and all of the oil build-up.

You've got a lot of big plans for being unemployed.. but it's a great platform.
What coilovers are you planning on getting? Going for form>function? Why the 5 lug conversion?(Diamond Racing makes both 4 lug and 5)

Re: '98 Civic EX Build Thead
Yeah I know. Once I get a job most of my money is going to be going towards the swap, minus gas and insurance. I was thinking about going with Eibach coilovers, although I'm not sure yet. I'm planning on slamming it. I may just stick with 4 lug, but I was thinking about going to 5 lug because of wheel options if I wanted to change it up at some point.

A swap will very nice. I'm still driving my slow *** y7...
Eibach have a great rep.. don't know about a lot about slamming the car though, my build is more on the functional side.
I've heard a lot of people say the 5 lug isn't worth it.. there really is a ton of variety in both 4 lug and 5 lug
good luck mate, hope to see this build in the future

Re: '98 Civic EX Build Thead
Just an update.
I went and got my replacement o-ring for the distributor today. That successfully fixed the leak. I'll be checking tomorrow to see if there are any other additional leaks.
