Default 98 Civic DX Instrument Cluster

I have a 98 Civic DX with no Tach. I've seen claims on EBAY that any 96-00 cluster will plug and play in any other year/model The computer at the auto salvage place I use says I will need one from a 96-98 only and only from another DX (probably no tach either). Anyone know what year and model I can use to swap clusters to my 98 Civic DX?

Thanks in advance for you help!!!!

Any cluster from 96-00 will work. Yes, plug and play. You can use an LX, EX, Si, CTR, SiR (EK4), RS, CRV, or Spoon clusters. They all plug and play.

You were right on. Six screws and $25 later and I now have a tach in my 98 DX from a 99 EX. There were more recepticles in the back of the cluster than I had plugs for but I assume they are for options that my DX doesn't have.

Thanks for the advice!!!
