Default 98 Civic Dash Lights Burned Out, What to Use?

I've searched and cannot find a consistent answer to this question. What lights are in the gauge cluster of a 98 Honda Civic? I know there are a few DIY threads talking about the lights, but I've read conflicting reports about what the lights actually are and how many there are of each. If someone could give me a straight answer that would be most helpful because a couple lights burned out and I want to fix it myself.

Thank you in advance for any help. It's a 98 Honda Civic Ex.

This write-up by BauleyCivic should tell you everything you need to know. I just wish someone would help me find out what I need to know.

Thanks again in advance for any help!

96-98

Gauge cluster:

5x #24 bulb
1x #194 bulb
2x #74 bulb (optional for downward lighting)

Climate Control:

2x #74

If all your bulbs went out, chances are it's not the bulbs. It's probably a short or a fuse.

No not all of them, actually I'm pretty sure it's only one of them. Thank you so much Eran, that was exactly what I was looking for. I will go to wherever they sell automotive lights and I will pick up the #24s and the #194. Might as well change all of them while I'm in there. Hooray for more wrenching projects for a noob who wants to learn to work on his car!

Don't go to a parts store. They'll over-charge you and won't sell 24's or 74's. Might as well take this opportunity to change your dash lighting color.

http://autolumination.com/74.htm sells EVERYTHING you need. Just be sure to get glass bulbs, LED's give you hotspots.

LEDs are bad? Whoops...maybe I should have read your whole post before ordering my lights. What do you mean by hotspots? I thought LEDs were ok for your cluster and climate control.

When you order your bulbs, don't do amber. Do something different. Do purple, do red, do bright green, do hyper-white. Do something to match your deck, or something. I had amber, and got sick of it. I went back to the stock minty-blue/green color, and stock radio and cd slave ... and I couldn't be happier.
