i just finished putting a b18c1 into my 98dx coupe. it started up great, idled great, ran great, didnt get hot, i drove it around for a while, parked it, topped off the coolant and drove for a little while. i noticed it began to get a bit hot and make some odd gurgling noises a lil past the dash, so i took it home and parked it, thinking i had air in the cooling system. i decided to worry about it the next day, so i go out to mess with it, and see that the passenger side floorboard is soaked in coolant. seems to be coming from underneath the dash from the heater components...im upset to say the least, its my daily and i need to get to work, it sucks. did i cross a coolant hose??? i thought it was straight foward. anyone with a gsr swap please help me out, this was my first swap, i thought it went well until this, i feel stupid

Sounds like a leaking heater core that needs to be replaced.

ok that makes more sense, theres just the long hose from the heater control valve that goes around the pass. side of the motor, and then the short one that comes out of the firewall in the same place, then goes to a metal tube under the intake manifold facing the same way as the throttle body opening. i didnt think i could mess that up, so a heater core? is that a common symptom and cause?

i'd like to bypass the heater to drive it for a while, its f***in hot anyways... i'll get a heater core later... so all i do is route the long hose that goes from the head to the heater control valve and connect it to the metal tube(the one under the intake manifold) that the short heater hose is connected to?

Can you bypass the short heater hose and connect the long heater hose to the valve?

this is the same i think, but looked simpler, cuts out the heater hoses coming out of the firewall alltogether. the heater is just a little radiator anyways right? only two hoses in or out right? i think this is legit.

Yeah, do whatever is easiest. You just want to bypass the heater core.

It doesnt really matter how you do it, but id get a new heater core i guess it just depends on how much you love ur car
