98 b18b swap in 97 ek, High Idle
I swapped a b18b into my 97 ek, and using a virgin p28 ecu. When I fire it up, My idle keeps jumping from 1.5rpm to 3.5k rpm and back for 5 mins, and then after it tries to maintain itself, it idles at 2k rpm. The weird part is when I take off the map sensor, it idles perfectly normal and it doesn't jump that high when I fire it up in the morning (It's summer now over here in PA). I can't figure out what is going on here... So far, 4 days after the swap, i've been driving without the map sensor and believe me, it sucks to let the car behind inhale all that burning oil. And I just added another 2 quarts of oil because it burns so much. I've done the CFK mod even though I'm using an OBD I ecu... Have anyone else experience this problem? Yes, I did try to adjust the throttle cable and FITV, still no improvement...

I don't understand how that will help... Because without the map sensor, it idles perfectly fine at 1k rpm..but i'll give it a try... yea I cleaned the IACV valve already

1) why are you using a p28?
2) bleed the coolant, as suggested
3) look for a vacuum leak - start with dumb stuff like a hose not connected
4) your engine shouldnt burn anywhere near that much oil.....something is seriously wrong:
Check the compression - dry and wet

Re: 98 b18b swap in 97 ek, High Idle (everlasting1832)
ok, I rebled the coolant system and then when I fired it up, I got a check engine light with a OBD II code of 1300 (Ignition Misfire) It kept jumping up and down from 1k rpm to 1.5 rpm, So I thought it was a bad distributer. I replaced it and now the car does not even start at all. The engine rotates, but it just does not want to ignite and start up. I tried replacing the spark plugs, wire, and distributer, still no good. I checked on the Haynes repair manual and the plugs are in the right order in the distributor.. This motor swap is driving me insane!!!
